Annette's websites of the week

The National Allotment Society are the leading organisation in promoting and preserving allotments and they work closely with local and national governments in ensuring allotment owners know their rights.

National Allotments 2

As this week has been National Allotment Week, I have blogged about the easy vegetables to start growing, some tasty recipes that you can make with your own produce and what you can plant in August to get started now! I’d love to see some photos of your allotments or vegetable patches, no matter how big or small. It’s all about making the most of your space and getting what you can from it.

Green Circle Gardens are containers designed for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility but still want to grow flowers, herbs and fruit and vegetables. They have a water connection so there is no bending down or carrying heavy watering cans and everything is reachable as a chair can fit comfortably underneath.

Green_Circle_Garden_Ian1-300x242Gardening is a very fulfilling activity for many and I think it’s wonderful that a product for gardening has become available to assist those who still want to maintain their independence and tend to their garden. If you have a small garden and have limited mobility, using small planting trays and tables are also great ways to grow your smaller fruits and herbs!

National_Trust_NI_logo-230x230Your grandchildren only have between now and 1st September 2013 to complete the ‘50 Things to Do before you’re 11¾’ challenge with the National Trust!

I hope you have already started the challenge but if not, there’s no need to worry as many of the tasks can be done in one afternoon such as climbing a tree, flying a kite and making daisy chains. Download the list by clicking here and have an adventure with your grandchildren these summer holidays!
